Goodwill’s Dedication to the Community
Goodwill has been helping community members for the past 115 years. It was founded in 1902 by Reverend Edgar J. Helms, a minister from Boston. Helms collected used household goods and clothing from wealthier families around Boston. He then trained people to mend and repair the items to resell or give away. Helm’s plan worked, and the Goodwill philosophy of “Not Charity, but a Chance” was born.
Goodwill’s New Retail Location
A new Goodwill retail store and job resource center was opening in Columbia, Tennessee. Griffin Mechanical worked with the nonprofit in installing a new roof-mounted heating and cooling unit. We also installed new ductwork and air distribution to keep their customers comfortable.
